To understand the meaning of death,
we must appreciate the purpose of life.
-Thomas S. Monson

I read this in the morning and I had to write it down somewhere so that I could remember to think about it.

I know it's been a while, but about a month ago I told you I'd heard a quote that I thought related to this one, and your post from today reminded me of it. I heard it from a talk at my friend's funeral last semester. She was 22 and she died in a car accident just after Thanksgiving. It is one of the saddest things I've experienced to see a familiar face on the front page of the newspaper next to the words, "Accident claims BYU student."

The only way to take sorrow out of death
is to take love out of life.
